Social
Our club has a strong club identity, and a tradition of social events and well-attended club nights. Club nights are held every Thursday throughout the season and start with informal games from 6pm. Coaching is arranged on some nights and we also organise an informal competition called the Acorn Trophy, providing games of a slightly different format for the participants.
At about 7.45pm we have a club-night supper, often including some other activity, e.g. a quiz. The last Thursday of the month is normally a barbecue, which is always popular.
Our clubhouse has a seating area that can accommodate up to 50 people and is often used to serve refreshments after a match. Our kitchen has a modern 6-burner cooker and is fully stocked with crockery and cooking utensils. The bar serves an extensive range of beers, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.
Other Activities
The club hosts other activities throughout the year and these are open to non-members as well as club members
- Monday, 10:00am – 1:00pm Cribbage club
- Wednesday, 10:00am – 12.00pm Bridge club
- Thursday, 10:00am – 11am Yoga
Indoor Bowling
Although these other activities continue throughout the winter, Oak Hill is closed for bowling from the end of September. However, many of our members continue to bowl indoors at Glebelands Indoor Bowling Club, which is situated in Summers Lane, Finchley. We also play a few indoor fixtures during the winter months, mainly at Glebelands. For more information about Glebelands, please click here. Some of our members also bowl informally at the facility at Bramley Road, Southgate on a Thursday evening.
